utg 1360
utg+1 1000
MP1 1000
Hero 1000
MP3 1000
LP 1000
CO 1000
Button 995
SB 875
BB 770

2nd hand, blinds 5/10

Preflop: Hero is dealt Red 2s
utg calls, 2 folds, hero calls, MP3 calls, 3 folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (t50) 10 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 2 /images/graemlins/club.gif K /images/graemlins/heart.gif
3 checks, hero raises to t45, MP3 raises to 105, 3 folds, hero reraises to t225, MP3 calls.

Turn: (t500) Q /images/graemlins/club.gif
hero bets t350, MP3 folds.

Did I get too scared? Was the Q a scare cared for him (as it is for me)? Or, was he just on the OE straight draw?

No mistake on the turn. There's no need to give free cards at this point in the tourney, and the pot is pretty good already. I may have pushed on the flop, after the reraise. Barring that, I probably push the turn.

If you're going to 3-bet, which I think is fine, actually 3-bet. That small reraise out OOP looks HUGE. Flat calling the flop and c/r'ing the turn is an option too. So is flat calling and donk betting the turn depending on the dude.

I reread your post 3 times, and I still don't think I know what you're saying. Am I missing some dry sarcasm?

I don't know if this is what Bigt meant, but your preflop reraise looks like a very strong hand, so I wouldn't expect him to bet the turn without the nuts. So, you outta bet.

Then flat calling is absolutely atrocious, IMO. If villain has 2 pair or the OE straight draw, I don't think I'm interested in a too difficult turn card.

Guess my bet was good.

Firstly, sorry for the typo. Secondly, I'm saying that a reraise that small (your 3-bet on the flop) looks like a huge hand. Your hand would look weaker if you made it 325 or so to go, and it would be better for the sake of building the pot. So if you are going to go the 3-bet route, and I don't think it's the only way, but it's a viable option, then make a bigger reraise.

There are 3 lines to take after MP3 raises:

1)Call the flop, CR the turn - I do this fairly often on a rainbow board since there's no reason to put him on exactly QJ;

2)Push the flop - this looks faaaar less scary than what you did, and KQ often calls;

3)Call, bet any turn - I rarely do this but I suppose it works against some donkeys.

If I was MP3, what you did would make me type out 'lol' in the chat box (but not actually send it because I want you to keep showing me your hand every time I'm confused).

I would call the flop raise and cr the turn almost every time.

Same here. Or as adanthar said, occasionally lead the turn, as he seems to like his hand; however it's a huge show of strength when you do this, so be careful. (So is a check-raise mind)

I guess it is obvious to everyone but me, but what is Hero's hand? A 2s and what else?

10-25-2005, 08:30 AM
I believe red 2's means 2 of hearts and 2 of diamonds.
