These games are open for registration.

<font color="red">"North America vs Europe Challenge #4"</font> was a rousing success. Congrats to the NA winners.

This will be my last week organizing the Brown Trout Games. No, I’m not quitting the games, I just feel it is time, after almost two years, to get some new blood involved in running the games for the forum. A new viewpoint, some new excitement, and a fresh look to the games will probably help get up some new interest.

The guys who will be organizing the games will be Hyde (Dr. Jekyl on PS), cha59 (cha59), and grandgnu(ajmartino). Please give them your support.

Games for 2+2 posters. Not sponsored by Two Plus Two Publishing.

I've only played in 3 of them (cashed 2 of them and who knows what my ROI is for these, is that sustainable /images/graemlins/wink.gif ) but I appreciate you organizing these, it's fun playing a small tourney against people you have intelligent discussions with on here.

played my first one last week and I have to say it was pretty fun, came 5th, some donk called my re-raise all-in with 5's with KK, pfft.

I too have thoroughly enjoyed them. It's great to have tables full of players I can bluff, instead of calling stations that require me to have a hand because they'll call me down with bottom pair no matter what (wait a minute, now I sound like MegaBit)

I've played three of the weekly events (2nd place once, final table all times)

And the NA vs. EU Challenge #4 (took 3rd out of 67, schweet!)

These games are a lot of fun, I hope we can start getting more than two tables going on the Wednesday night events. I should be good to play at least one of the Wednesday events each week, although it may change each week depending on how things go.

I don't think my "trash" talking is working, probably because it's not "trash". These guys may not be too bright, but they're smart enough to not argue against the truth.

I mean, FOUR final tables in 2+2 challenges in a ROW? How can they not bow to my 733tn3ss?

I think this plan to recruit me to drum up new players is going to backfire. These chumps are so afraid of playing against THE TRIPLE THREAT, that attendance is likely to drop off sharply.

I think the only solution is for me to throw the next match and finish on the final table bubble, and advertise my three-gapper non-suited push pre-flop so I can generate more action later.

Making final tables when there's only 12-15 people is a great achievement. Well done.

BTW, most of the $ is won the higher you finish. I have won 1 outright from 4 attempts. How many have YOU won?

I would have won if it wasn't for those 2+2 donkeys, I mean, don't they know when I push they should just fold, regardless of pot odds?

7th out of 15
2nd out of 14
9th out of 21
3rd out of 67

At the break I am 3rd.

I haven't seen what happened to Toro, but he's come back from last place to a monster chip lead!

grandgnu
10-26-2005, 09:35 PM
Yup, Toro is a monster. As soon as I got moved to another table he started mounting a comeback without me to stop him.

I made the final table for a 5th time in a row. Finished up 7th when my short-stacked push with A/5 ran into 8/8 and didn't improve.

I had an opportunity to triple up but just missed it. Was on the button with Q/10 sooted. But BunnieLee (skipperbob) limped in EP (he had 4/5 of clubs from what I recall). I had planned on pushing but opted to not even bother limping. The flop comes something like Q/10/3 and Toro as chip leader in the BB is holding A/Q and Skipper has a flush draw, so all the money goes in and no flush came and I would've rivered the boat. Ugh, woulda coulda shoulda I suppose. I'll be in the Pacific at 10.

MegaBet
10-26-2005, 11:00 PM
Another typical 2+2 tourney.

I push Slacka around for most of the game (he kept raising my blinds, and I pushed back, mostly with nothing). I see he is getting a little annoyed with this and finally calls my A10 push with A9...yeah the A9 won.

I manage to get all in on a queen high flop with AQ, and Slacka has AK. The miracle jack appears on the turn to make him a straight and I am shortstacked.

I push my pocket pair preflop and aj calles with A10. Yeah, you guessed it, ace AND 10 appears and I am out.

Sigh.

grandgnu
10-26-2005, 11:02 PM
his pocket pair was 2/2, UTG. And I was chip leader, and he was short-stacked, agressive, etc.

Well, the heads-up match with Jekyl was tough. He wound up outchipping me for most of it, I mounted a comeback and took a small lead.

In the end, I had K /images/graemlins/club.gif 8 /images/graemlins/club.gif and got all my money in pre-flop against his A/A. The 8 on the flop gave me some hope, but no suckout this time.

Good playing with everyone, 1st place STILL eludes me, but one day perhaps. Congrats to Toro and HighMoose for their come from behind 1st and 2nd place victories in the first game.

Good games this evening.
Whoever that dr. jekyl is came back from around T1000 to win his second straight Pacific. I urge you all to increase your level of spite calls in his direction. Really, just call with any two......
highmoose came back from T45 to take 2nd in Atlantic.
Toro just bullied all game and steamrolled the final table, as a big stack should.

I am now headed for the hospital, I think I threw my shoulder out while patting myself on the back.

High praise indeed, well played guys, although I didn't see it, wish I did.

Got me thinking though, what a fantastic educational and discussion opportunity for some players if the likes of pokerstars (who now do this $5.50 gazillion player shootout with ft playback) were to offer playback to private games on request ?

I though cha was playing great (he was IMing me his cards), it's really brutal when you have a clear push (t3000, ATo UTG 4 handed, 200/400/a25) and run into a bigger hand.

I didn't have the benefit of jekyl's hole cards but he played great too. What did you have when you restole from cha that one hand (when you both had like t4000?)

I didn't play the pacific b/c i wanted to get to bed early. just before retiring, I clicked on to see how it was going. Ended up watching almsot the whole thing. Incredible poker played by the last 4 especially Cha and DrJekyle the two short stacks.

[/ QUOTE ]

I though cha was playing great (he was IMing me his cards), it's really brutal when you have a clear push (t3000, ATo UTG 4 handed, 200/400/a25) and run into a bigger hand.

I didn't have the benefit of jekyl's hole cards but he played great too. What did you have when you restole from cha that one hand (when you both had like t4000?)

[/ QUOTE ]

WE both had 1700 or so.
I had A,Jo.
What did cha have? felt like a middle pair or Ax, and I thought he had just enough chips left to be able to fold.

Hey All.

I've had a great (albeit short) time playing with you all on Stars.

Recently I've been having some terrible luck in the sit n' go's. And before I go and donk off all my chips due to Tilt, I've decided to withdraw my funds and buy myself something that will make me happy.

My three most recent exits:

All are Stars $15+$1 turbo sit n' go's

Number 1 Blinds 75/150. I have about 1K in chips left. Two limpers, I'm on the CO with 6/6. I push. Folded to a guy in MP who limped with A/8 offsuit. He has about 1500 chips, it's costing him 2/3 his stack and he calls? Rivers an Ace.

Number 2 I'm down to 700 chips, blinds are 15/30. I catch A/A in MP. Guy before me limps for 30, I raise to 90. Folded to him, he calls.

Flop is 10/3/4 with two spades (I don't have one). He checks, I bet about 180 into the 225 pot, he calls. Turn is a 10, bringing a 2nd club to the board now as well. He checks, I push, he calls with J/10 and I'm sent packing.

Number 3 First hand I'm in the BB with A/K of diamonds. Bunch of limpers for 20 chips, I make it 200 to go, if someone wants to play, I'm ready to make it costly (hopefully I'll get called by a dominated Ace). Donk who UTG limped with Q/5 of clubs pushes for 1500. I make the obvious call, 5 on the flop and I'm sent packing.

Yes, I know, I'm tilting. I should be happy these idiots are playing like this, and I am. I just need a break, the constant suckouts are wearing me down right now, on top of other things going on in life that only compound the stress.

I've laid PLENTY of beats on others in my victories, so I guess it's karma/variance catching up. But for the time being, I really need something to cheer me up, so I'm going to spend some money on stuff for me (maybe a computer upgrade, new flat screen tv, something). Best of luck to all of you throughout your poker adventures. I'm just taking a break for now, get my head straight.

Three separate tournaments actually. I had that happen awhile back in three multi's in a day as well. Get my money in with A/10 vs. A/7, A/10 vs. A/8 and A/10 vs. A/2 sooted, and they all hit against me, including the guy making his 2 and his flush, ugh.

Then again, I've had my Q/Q bust A/A, my Q/4 sooted bust a slowplayed pair of Aces, my K/K beat A/A, my A/4 beat A/8 sooted that had the flush draw on the turn and I hit my 4 on the river, etc. I've put plenty of bad beats on others. I think the problem is that playing online, you can suffer a lot more rough hands in short order. I can handle them pretty well live, since it's just one event. But playing multiple events during the day and getting creamed in all of them can be draining.

I'm not really on tilt, If I was I would be going crazy overplaying my bankroll and playing badly. I believe I played well, but just got unlucky in succession.

So for right now, I'm stepping back, taking a breather and making sure I remain calm and don't do something foolish.

Insults coming from MegaButt, the KING of complaining about his opponents donkish plays seems pretty silly to me. But, whatever, enjoy not placing in the 2+2 events.

I'm not insulting you, I'm stating facts. If you're not prepared for variance maybe you SHOULD quit. Some people are just not made for poker. I can brush them off and load up another game - I know I am a long term winner.

Out of all the thousands and thousands hands of poker I have ever played, I made an issue of ONE. That was in a 2+2 event and I was shocked to see such bad play from a supposed learned group of players. So I'm not sure how I can be given the title of the "king of complaining". You must not read these boards much.

I have won more 2+2 events than you, so again I'm not sure where you got "enjoy not placing in the 2+2 events" from.

Sorry to call you out and correct you in every false statement you make, but you're determined to flame me at every opportunity. If you HAVE to do it, as childish and immature as it is, at least base it on facts please.

Yes, I am aware of variance. Yes, I can handle variance, but in smaller doses I guess. Right now I have a number of things outside of poker adding to stress, and no matter how good you are, when you run bad in poker, it can and will take it's toll on you. I don't believe anyone is immune to this.

I wouldn't be cut out for poker if I was going and playing poorly because of the bad run of variance. But I believe that I am cut out for poker, because I realize when I'm becoming drained and take a break. I don't think there's anything wrong with taking a break, if you've been playing too much poker.

Also, as far as a 2+2'er making a donkish play against you. Just because someone reads 2+2, doesn't mean they are going to be as well versed in effective strategy as you might be.

Just because someone satellited their way into a 10K main event, doesn't mean squat for whether they actually have skills or if they're truly dead money and luckboxed their way in.

I only have about 15K hands stored in pokertracker from my Omaha Hi/Lo ring games, of which I made 4.56BB/100 hands (although Omaha is easier to make more BB/100 hands than limit hold 'em, if you apply appropriate strategy).

I never got the hold 'em version for poker tracker, and given the recent move by Party, I stopped playing at Empire because the ring games were stinking, and moved over to PokerStars to play some tournaments here and there.

Besides, didn't you know that online poker was rigged? They let you get a great run, then they flip a switch and use their house bots to take all your profit back, so you keep depositing. It's true, I read it in the Zoo!

Actually Megabet the games were set up as I understand it:

1. To allow some newer players to sit with strong players for a growth experience.
2. Provide some fun for others

Get a clue. Lighten Up. Quit your whining.

naked huggles for everyone! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I don't dispute what Mega says, as far as the possibility of not being cut out for poker. One must be able to handle the variance, in order to be successful in the long run.

I realize I have work to do on that, having an "explosive" personality at times. It's easy to get caught up when you're running well and get manic, and then when you're running poorly get depressed.

I'm just happy that I didn't go and lose all the money in some type of anger-fueled get-rich-quick by-playing-the-NL-cash-tables scheme (or go and start playing like the Q/5 donks in order to lay my own beats on others as some sort of revenge)

I'll be back after a much needed respite from poker for a bit. Going to concentrate on the upcoming holidays and enjoying time with my new wife. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

And that's why I started a discussion on the hand I lost on! To help the new players!

I have a clue, and I'm probably the most "lightened up" player on these boards (besides Yugo). Please, if you're gonna take the time to post, at least make it useful.
