Trojan infested despite Symantec Corporate

I have symantec antivirus corporate 10 and apparently it's not doing it's job. I was testing it's effectiveness by visiting a few porn sites and I was immediately infected with Dialer.DialPlatform, and Trojan.Aledod.

Luckily, or at least I think, I am running on a wireless cable modem so the Dialer.Dialplatform can't call a bunch of porn sites and charge me a bunch of money. I think I deleted this trojan, but the other one won't go away. I can't delete, quarantine or even clean it.

I was suspicious that this piece of crap software didn't work because in the taskbar thing on the bottom right of my screen there is a red circle with a line threw it over the symantec icon. Everytime I hit "enable software" it blinks and then goes back to the red circle.

Are there any real anti-virus softwares that actually work? I need to get rid of this trojan so the virgin nerd who coded this trojan can stop jacking off because he finally infected someone with his piece of [censored] trojan.

It's entirely possible that whatever you are infected with is disabling the antivirus. Unfortunately, searches for this Aledod deal on Google and the Symantec site yield nothing (you are spelling it correctly, no?).

My recommendation would first be to download Process Explorer from here: http://www.sysinternals.com/utilities/processexplorer.html

That will show you everything that is running on your system. It is possible to hide processes from it, but hopefully that will be good enough.

If I were you I'd probably contact Symantec and ask them to provide you with information about the trojan so you know exactly how to deal with it. Really though, I would just format and reinstall. And change passwords for everything used from that computer from a clean computer.

My bad, it's alemod. I reformatted my comp, but I still want to get a better antivirus program. The corporate edition always had the red circle over the icon in the taskbar long before i got the trojan.\

What security setups do you people have? What software do you use?

This would appear to indicate that the virus scan and maybe firewall as well was not enabled, which you figured out. I have had this happen once or twice where I would check enable and it would not in fact be enabled. Rebooting seemed to do the trick. If your defenses are not enabled, then obvioiusly you can be subject to attack, and that is not really the program's fault. I would also recommend Webroot's Spysweeper program and use of its various shields which notify you when a program is attempting to add itself to your startup menu or trying to hijack your browser.
