Professional Movers: Easy Theft?

I can't find a couple things that were moved for me by professionlas a few months ago. Nothing big or valuable, but missing the same. How can you inventory every little item you own? Obviously, beds and TVs are easy to account for - but what about the little stuff that goes into a box with other little stuff? I think I had about 250 items inventoried - I did the whole checking off thing as they were moved in - but the damage could have already been done on the initial pack-up. Anyone else suspicious of these professional movers?

ive had professional movers move me about 4 times now and nothing has ever gone missing that i noticed

It's not a bad idea to not let them at the valuable stuff, whether it's from worries about theft or simple breakage or loss.
