I still have some of my roots in low limit NL games where you nearly never fold AK preflop. Is this a spot where I should dump it? Villian just sat down...never seen him before.

Fold, You're a big dog or close to even, unless you want to shove and pray for AQ, which you'll almost never see.

Do you guys realize this is blind vs blind? People love to get playhappy in the blinds... PUSH, and its nowhere near close. Easy easy push.

How bad is calling?

etizzle

really, really bad

youre not gonna get paid off by a worse hand if you hit the flop. Get it in now while you have fold equity.

I probably fold, but it depends how you feel about their ability to re-raise pre-flop and push with slick..are they those kind of players?

Without a read, i wait for better spots. Maybe if you could rebuy to cover, then call.

OK. I called.

Pot~$550

Flop: K /images/graemlins/heart.gif 9 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 2 /images/graemlins/club.gif

He bets $250. I just call.

Thoughts?

dont understand the call on the flop. Isn't it either a push or fold? Are you folding to his turn allin bet?

Fold preflop. The preflop 3betting range of a random player at 5/10nl is 90%+ KK/AA. The range only widens when your opponent is someone capable of adapting to preflop aggression (if you've been reraising loose). There are like 5 dudes in the game capable of that.

FWIW, I'm 3bet in blind vs. blind a *very* insignificant % of the time. Sure, players get out of line sometimes in those situations, but the question is,'how often?'. Answer: not often enough to get your stack in preflop w/AK facing that action.

If you decide to continue (chance of him being random overaggro retard getting out of line in his first hand), shove. You don't hit the flop often enough (this is key. you can compensate for your misses by deciding to bluff raise some % of the time but this requires a read you don't have!) and don't win enough money vs. worse hands when you do to justify the preflop call. Leverage folding equity. You will just bleed money playing fit or fold.

Excellent response as usual van. You're right about the 5/10 players never getting out of line preflop. I actually mentioned the same thing to Duck last night.

For the flop here, does anyone just call here and not raise? I think calling is by far the best line.

no fvcking way am i folding pre and i think calling is prob best, but moving in is ok too.
i see no point in raising the flop BTW...

are you seriously gonna call off 1/3 of his stack preflop?

flawless_victory

it 180 to him.

basically at this point i dont think this guy is folding pre... i have busted many PPs with AK on Ahigh boards after there were three raises preflop. seriously.

I have never played with flawless, but from what I understand, he is super aggro, especially PF, which changes things.

In Party 5/10 its instamuck. I think calling is a mistake and moving in is a blunder (because after calling you still have a chance to fold after the flop and save some money)

Best wishes

Hmmm interesting. I guess the answer depends on how players generally play at higher limits (for example 5/10).

For small stakes tables (e.g. 0.25/0.50 NL) a three bet screams out Aces or Kings.

But at a 5/10 six handed table, a three bet could be an attempt to get a middle pair (pair of nines for example) or even an Ace-rag to fold preflop. Especially blind versus blind.

What kinds of hands can you assign to someone who three bets pre flop at the 5/10 limits?

it depends on the player, but in a full handed setting thats pretty much a 3bet range. [aa, kk]
