AJo push after minraise and a call (8-handed)

I've seen Donkey minraise for the third time with AA preflop, but he could really have anything.
I think shortie is a pretty bad fish.

Suicidal? Yes, AJ eight handed is not that good (as I have learnt to my cost!)wth 2 still to act behind you as well as Donkey and Fish.

Wait and pick a better spot - the problem you have is that shortie is a fish, so he is bound to call with his pretty cards(Q8 suited probably), and Donkey is priced in as well, 600 to win 1350 (even without shortie). If you could guarentee to force Donkey out, heads up you have a good chance against the fish, but against 2 its very tricky.

I don't like the "push" for the following reasons:


1. You have a raise and a call in front of you.

2. I realize you are down to 8 X the BB, but, AJo is a litte too weak for me with a raise and a call in front of me.

3. You do not have enough money in front of you to push the big stack out.

He will probably call your push because he will be getting 2.25 to 1 pot odds.
Shorty will probably call due to being pot committed as well as the 6.33 to 1 pot odds he is getting.

Therefore,you will probably be up against two people.


When I push, I would much rather be the first in the pot and hope to be heads up if I do get called.

Hm, I still don't know. I really needed some chips before next orbit. I may not have gotten a significantly better spot to double (or triple) up in the next 7 hands.
But yeah, it's a marginal play at best.

That was the range I was expecting, and I went in as a (very) slight favorite.

If you expected them to call your push ( the majority of the time) than I think it was definetly a mistake. You just don't want to be getting called with AJ from a limp raise (UTG) and a cold call. Plus, your stack wasn't that bad relative to everyone else. Why get involved with the big stack?
