View Full Version : question about tournament bankroll reqs

10-22-2005, 11:58 PM
I am a NL cash game player and my current bankroll is around 2,500$.

In an effort to expand my game as well as have a little more fun I have decided I want to play 1 mtt a week.

Based on my bankroll, what size mtt should I be playing in? Im really attracted to the 100$ buy in weekly tournaments. Are these too high for my bankroll?

yea, you need a deeper bankroll for MTT's than SnG's.. and 2500 isn't enough for 100 SnG's.

I'd want like 5k+ for 100's.

Yeah, you're rolled for 30's, honestly, although you could play 50s ok. Especially if you're only playing once a week.

The alternative is to play a bunch of satellites to collect tickets to 100s. This is what I'm going to do soon when I restart my bankroll after making some big withdrawals. It could work for you to do it for one day... say I'll spend x amount, something that won't hurt your roll, like 300, and win as many tickets as I can, then play them out over a few weeks. Do well, you're set. If not, repeat.

I'd be thinking 100 buy-ins.

what sites have "tickets"?

The only one i know of is UB.

I think nearly every site has satellites. Pokerroom, where I've played so far, has tons of ways to win a 100+8 ticket, and they have two weekend 100+8 "GrandPrix's". The GP's are only a few hundred players too (100 for the Euro, 300-400 for the US) which lowers variance.

Party Poker has satellites for their Super Weekday tourneys (150+12). When I get my PC I'm going to play a ton of those and collect tickets.

what I do is play NL rings for most of the week, if I have a good week i'll play a tourney on the weekend just for a change of pace. 12th in party's 30+3 tonight. wish i coulda gone deeper
