villian is rock with 17% VP$IP, 1.7% PFR, 0.9 aggr after 185 hands, he took a long time before finally making the river call, leading me to believe that $50 was just at the cutoff of where he was still willing to call....any opinions?

I would bet a little more on the turn. At least 30

I would bet a lot more on the turn (which lets the river play much easier I think)

Seriously, hammer the [censored] out of the turn. The 8 looks like a total brick. If he is calling on the end after the ace falls, he is calling a pot sized bet (and probably even a push) on the turn. Sorry, if that sounds results oriented, but you really need to get more value in this situation when your hand is a well-disguised monster.

When a rock is calling your bets, you know he has a hand and thus will have a hard time folding, so bet aggressively.
