My roommate signed on for the Party 30 + 3. 500 Entrants. Top 60 pay. He has dinner reservations with his girl, so with 74 people left he tells me to take over. Average chip count is 7K, and he leaves me with 14K to work with. First place is 3600.00. Well, I gave it a good run and finished 4th for him. $975.00. He gave me $250.00. Is this fair? I mean, the late tourney play is the hard part! Did I get shafted? I feel like the short end of a final table chop.

On another positive note, I satellited into the WSOP ME tournament on Sunday on Absolute. Hopefully they get enough entrants to give away a seat. If not, it'll just be a good 100+8 buy in tourney.

you took a 2x average stack already deep in a touranemtn to the FT, you don't deserve that much. 250 is pretty generous really. I mean, if you had played the entire tournament w/ his money you'd normally only get 450.

Well technically he didn't promise to give you anything did he? I mean I would have given more myself but he might think he's being generous giving you 25%. If I were you I'd just be happy with the 250. If you stew on it too long it'll just hurt your friendship. Or if it really bothers you bring the issue up and say you feel you deserve half.

Should have made some kind of deal when you took the controls if you expected more than 25% things being as they are I would be happy with what you got.

Grats on the finish though.

I would probably agreed on % before you took over, but that is a good deal for you. You didn't have to risk any money, and you got to play the fun part of the tourney. Congrats.

And for the people saying they would have asked for a % before hand...

you're just doing a friend a favor.. why would you ask for money? If you win something, he'll probably hook you up but why ask? I ask my friend that lives with me occasionaly to tak eover for me (really rarely, but it happens) and i'd be a little put off if he asked for money.. i mean i've hookd him up each time he's won something, but i wouldnt like it if he asked for it. (I'd still do it, definitely, and it owuldnt be a big deal, but still)

No, no. Wouldn't ask for money. But if I was leaving, I would most likely say: "Hey can you take over for me here, you'll get 20% of whatever you win."

he left so fast that we didn't get to talk deals.

you made $125/hr with absolutely no risk.

I'll just repeat what i said earlier, 250 is more than enough for what you did.

I'd be more than happy, you got 25% from him with absolutely no risk of losing money yourself.

This seems fair to me. If it was my friend I probably wouldn't accept as high 250$ for this. I would have taken only 100$ You helped out a friend and he was nice to give you a sweet deal on top of it, be glad about that /images/graemlins/smile.gif

What if you had busted right before the money? Would you have given him a quater of the entrance fee? Or even more, since you feel that he should have given you more (a third, maybe half I'm assuming)? I really doubt you would have because it's obvious you care about money more than anything else. Quit whining.

wasn't whining, just asking if you all thought it was a fair deal. I only wish I made 125.00/hr all the time! /images/graemlins/grin.gif
