This is the most interesting place I've come across playing around with Google Earth. I know where it is, but I don't know what it is, so I'm genuinely curious whether anyone is familiar with it. Only hint I'll give is that it's not in the U.S.

I can't say for sure, but given the country, I kind of doubt it.

Burj Dubai was my first thought, but I thought it was taller, so that might not be the place. The burj dubai is that sailboat-shaped hotel, right?

You guys all got close really quickly. It's actually in Kuwait. If someone can tell me an easy way to post the coordinates I'll do that.

Did you try checking any of the overlays in Google Earth? Some of them have links to info about different sites. It's possible that someone has posted info about that place.

I started this little map-challenge thing just using Google Maps, but I've been playing around with Google Earth since then, and it's quite an amazing little program.

I scanned a lot of coastline near Dubai (before you posted), didn't see it, and gave up. But I'm not surprised to hear it's close to there.

How do I do that? When I go to Add-Image Overlay, it seems to want information from me, instead of giving me information others have provided...

I scanned Dubai coastline for ages a few months ago, couldn't even spot the Burj Al Arab, let alone the new 'world' islands they are building.

If anyone finds them, hook me up.

In the lower left corner, under Layers, check the boxes that say National Geographic Magazine, Keyhole Community BBS, and User-Supplied collections. This will bring up markers for a lot of stuff. Sometimes it is way too much, so you can uncheck them to remove all the clutter once you've found what you want.

I found the thing you posted, and there is a placemark on it, but however it is not written in English, so I still can't help you there.

Hopefully this makes sense /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks, that's a great feature. If you click on the link that guy provides, you'll see he calls it the "green island". A quick Google search reveals this (http://www.pop2kuwait.com/index.php/fuseaction/destination.home/location/1795).
