FT $55 Three handed. I have a massive chip lead and went from 6000 to 9000 on the bubble because a short stack was trying to fold into the money and I punished the other two stacks. This included a hand in which I pushed with 10 6 when shortie was all in with 5 chips. Villian commented on this move. I have also been consistently raising all of villians limps from the button, not all in but 4 or 5 bb.
Blinds 100/200
Villian (button) (t2600)
sb (t1650)
Hero (t9250)
Dealt to Hero (Q9)
Villian minraises to 400, sb folds, Hero pushes.
I make this move with any two cards, but Q high is not terrible. He has the short stack outchipped by 550 after his minraise and I know that he should have a real hand to call here since he can try to avoid pots with me and hope the short stack bites first or can try to use the times I'm out to punish the short stack himself. Also, he still has 11 bb with 2200 so he should clearly fold all but top 25% hands at least. Anyway, he calls with...109 off??
Is this sort of spite call common at this level? I mean, even if I'm pushing any two cards it doesn't make sense for him to risk it with 10 9 when he is second in chips. Just curious to see if anyone encounters this sort of ill-advised calls often at $55s when they are running over the table with a big stack?
Or if anyone would like to argue why calling 10 9 here is not terrible, I would be interested to hear the argument.
Thanks, Jimmy
