View Full Version : Attachment or detachment?

Poker is about extreme control, right?

I kept repeating the same playing mistakes even after constant reminders. My problem is I don't slow down and calculate enough factors.

Detachment: looking at mistakes from afar, no feelings.

Association: self bashing, regret.

Which one is better for correcting playing mistakes?

Detachment for sure.

(1) Stand behind your chair and watch yourself play.
(2) Write down your mistakes as you make them.
(3) Review your mistakes at the end of the day.

If you go more than an hour without noting a mistake study more. You are making lots you dont realize. If you were not you would be winning the world series of poker or kicking butt at 300:600. Get to work and be tough on you!

I think its more a question of what you attach yourself to.

If you are attached to outcomes, you will never learn.

If you are attached to an idea - like the fundamental theorem, then you will learn.

So you need to be detached from results, but attached to the idea of making the correct play.
