i've never played party 400 6 max before and i have no idea how it typically plays but from what i can tell nobody here has gotten out of line.

when i thought about it i thought set over set was so likely. the main thing about this hand is that i'm not last to act here with MP behind me. i'm not sure what he has at all, it could be 88 but it could be a retarded KQ or something and might fold when he sees me go all in (or call with 88).

then i remembered, this is 400 party, not 2k party (which i'm still not sure how i'd play it) and short handed and this should be the easiest call in the world. yes? no? obbviously i'm not sure since i'm posting it.

in general from the SB i'd expect to see a bigger raise with AA/KK, so thats not exactly what im expecting to see here. maybe AK? the board just seems to safe to me, i would expect anyone with 88 to milk it a bit. the push is screaming for a fold, right? i don't see how you could fold that.

Why bother, if you're MP? You have an OOP PFR and a cold caller that's shown a willingness to play. I'd definitely hit that flop with 88 in MP's shoes, precisely because most will expect 88 won't give the action right off the bat. If SB has AK or AA he'll likely make the move he made; and I definitely don't put the first cold caller on KK.

Doyle says he can get off flopped sets. If there's any situation you can do it, this might be close. Problem is that you're sandwiched between these two. MP could easily have raised with KQ; you don't know if he'll call the two all ins or not. And SB could easily be on AK or AA. Because of that, I think you've gotta call.

[Edit: Sorry, messed up my situation]
A more interesting question IMO had been if it went: Bet, you raise, MP goes all in, button folds, SB calls, you ???
There you might be able to find a fold, depending on how much you've already committed and what you think of the players.

Once MP calls, I would expect to lose this pot 50% of the time or more unless he's a moron.

Id play it the same at that game. People will push a lot of different hands there.....

Tough spot man. But I think a case could be made for a strong laydown here. It could be one of those hands I was in the other day where 3 guys flopped sets on the flop!

This is fine.

I can only conclude that anyone advocating a laydown has never played the 400NL 6max game.

I fold this about as often as I fold pocket aces preflop.

I call. There's been way too many times where I said "Dammit! Okay, if you got the higher set I'll pay you off," only to find something that wasn't.

SB has AA AK or shite like QQ. MP can have anything, but you have a set, its nl400 and you never fold a set in this game. KT soooooted for MP!

This is what I'm saying, too...hopefully no one thought I was advocating a fold.

I think you win a large majority of the times you call the first all in. But once MP calls as well, I think your odds of winning this pot drop pretty dramatically.
