View Full Version : Jewel preferred cards.

I've been buying groceries at Jewel for years. Every time I go there the cashier asks if I have a preferred card, and I say no. I don't have and I don't want one because I don't feel like carrying around another [censored] card in my wallet just to save 89 cents a week on food. I'm sick of little plastic cards and I want them all to die.

But today I looked at my receipt, and at the bottom it says "you saved $.59 with your preferred card!" So they give you the preferred discount even if you don't have a card? Then why the hell do they make people give the cashier the card when they checkout? The only explanation I can come up with is that if people carry around a card with a Jewel logo all the time, it's great subliminal advertising.

Sometimes cashiers are nice enough to use their own cards for you since it usually gives them some type of rewards/benefits.
