Nice hand.
Doesn't floating mean folding a better hand or am I crazy?

if MP1 bets again are you still going to raise this turn?

sometimes you actually flop something when you coldcall. doesn't mean its still not floating.

i think bumping the float thread is a better line than starting a new one, but its probly close

Oh so floating means coldcalling PF then stealing on the turn. I thought it meant making a weaker TAG fold better overcards on the turn. /images/graemlins/blush.gif

Well, then people wouldn't give serious discussion to this hand, which I think merits it.
CDC brings up a good question -- if MP1 leads, what turn cards are we calling, what turn cards are we raising, and what turn cards are we folding?
I called the flop with the intention of doing something on the turn, depending on the card. It was a great raising card, so I think if MP1 bet and MP3 called, I'd still raise. If MP1 bet and MP3 raised, I'd probably think and cry and fold.

I'm still not understanding why a float is so special. Calling JTs in late position after a raise and a couple of limpers is completely standard. What am I missing? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Seriously examining this hand, what do you put MP3's hand range on to make this play EV+? Do you still raise if MP1 bets again? What if MP1 bets and MP3 folds?
If MP1 bets the turn again it probably means he has AA-JJ since he's betting the flop and turn 5 way in 2nd position. So I don't raising is good. We may have odds to draw though.
Edit: Now Shillx says its not a float and CDC says it is? WHO DO I BELIEVE!

Scroll up and you'll see I would raise if MP1 leads again because of this harmless/good turn card.
I think it's +EV to raise the turn for several reasons:
1) Get MP1 to fold AK/AQ which has 6 outs against me.
2) Fold equity on MP3 if he has second pair/a draw.
3) I often have the best hand.

yeah, i wasnt really paying attention to the hand at first, i dont know what im doing if an overcard falls, i like your line the way it played out because you cant really do much to protect your hand on the flop

I think a float is when you're the first coldcaller, and no matter what cards come you call the flop with the intention to push them off their hand on a later street.
