I often push. It smells funny.

Push if you think you have the best hand.

Fold otherwise.

What else is there to say?

Push if you believe he has an 8 or worse, fold if you think you are beat. Reads help a lot here, and so does knowing the buy-in level. The higher the level, the more inclined I am to push if you had no reads. It just feels like a probe bet.

How the hell am i supposed to know if I have the best hand?

Thats the point of the post, theres no preflop raise, small blind completes, he could have ANY hand. This is where I always get trapped, I flopped top pair garbage kicker with a hand I didnt even want to play but now I'm in it. I have no idea what he has and any decent raise will pretty much PC me. So I cant even try to figure out where I am.

I was trying to get a better response then push or fold, its obvious that there is no way to know if you are ahead here, so deciding whether to push or fold I might as well flip a coin.
