I am interested in becoming a dealer but I heard they make you take a math test and wanted to know how hard it is and if you could give some sample questions that you remember, thank you

Not a dealer, so i havnt taken it... but im sure its all the addition, multiplication and subtraction needed to count pots, and make side pots. How well do you do when you deal in home games?

I figured it would be just basic math but thats why i wanted to know a bit more specific, I deal good in home games but we dont play pot limit or even limit hold'em basically all NL

there is some calculus, but mostly just 1st year stuff maybe a little from second year. alot of linear algebra though. also some discrete math and set theory. if you have a minor in math you will do fine.

sounds kinda complicated , second year university math?

I didn't have to take a test on paper or anything, just basic stuff like counting side pots and making change.

Well... NL is generally harder than Limit (3 all-ins, 2 folds, BB folds to the raise and pre-flop raiser folds. Figure out the side pots) type of things... Limit doesn't get that as much.

Pot Limit is simply a matter of keeping a running total in your head, you are already calling out the bets and verifying they are right (ie raises to 10, reraises to 20. Now pot is 20 + 10 + 1/2 blinds = 33. Reraise to all-in for 88 so add 78 to it for 111, etc).

I have not heard of a math test, and when I talked to managers about working in their rooms all that is discussed is experience, and a tryout. I am sure they will toss some NL, PL and Limit into the tryout so be prepared for everything. If you can't do quick math in your head, don't deal tho... nothing worse than a dealer slowing the game down trying to do math on side pots.
