I've heard of this before but im not sure what it looks like or how is it done. Can someone please be kind enough to explain the mechanics of this.

perhaps you heard wrong. sometimes in a poker game the noise level is too high. what i think you heard was "bowling chips". that is the stuff that bowlers eat all the time. you know potato chips, those orange things, pretzels and such with their beer. that is why bowlers are usually so fat. that body anatomy also keeps them going in a straight line down the lane. helps with the game i guess.
