View Full Version : Need advice for clearing Stars bonus

I have two bonuses for $150 each sitting at Stars. I played my very first session their last night and it seems like it will take forever to clear. I played 89 hands at .50/100 6 max and only received 13 points. So I played another 100 or so at 1/2 6 max and received 27 points. Is there a better way to clear these bonuses? I'm strictly a LHE player. I can't play S&G's to save my life. That whole "one mistake and you're out" kicks my butt in the tournies. Any advice?

2-4 6max does the job.

I played 2/4 ring and it did the trick pretty quickly. Surprisingly loose games too.

Yeah, what he said, or 100nl. If you aren't ready for 2/4 or 3/6 just withdraw and come back in a few months when you are. The bonus never expires.

You can play 150 $11 sit and gos. If you 4 table that will take about 38 hours.

Careful though, because AK is a favorite over AA when allin preflop at pokerstars; I have seen it win 4 of 5 times (I know, inadequate sample size ... blah blah).

Even at $100 NL Stars is too slow - I have over $600 in bonuses stored there and don't bother to play Stars (and my usual game is $100 NL).

At $100 you can release $45 for every 250 hands that make it to the flop on about 7 Crypto Sites (which are also much softer games than Stars). Prima, Party and even UB release faster.
Stars has to be a $20 pot to count.

You need to play $200 NL to really shift the bonuses...

basically you want to play a game where the average pot size is at least $20 per hand (which triggers the FPP). for LHE games, the $1/2 counts at $15 and the 50c/$1 and below counts at $10. but NL and PL at any limit requires $20.

I would think that $100NL would be about the same pot sizes as $1/2 LHE, so that would be slower but doable. $200NL and up is definitely optimal.

NL 100 takes forever.
NL 200 is doable.
nl 400 is the bomb. but i don't like going that high at this point, so i usually play NL 200 and try to remain patient.

I cleared 750FPP's playing stars 1/2LHE. Took me about 3K hands. but that's about 5 days for me, I dont know how many hands you play a day

most 2/4 games have an average pot size of $20-25 which doesn't seem all that great, are most players just loose preflop then passive post flop or what? I do know that it's really more like $24-29 avg pot in party poker terms because they count uncalled bets.

How many hands does it take to clear 500 FFP's at 2/4 full?

3/6 six max clears really fast, if you have like 1500 bucks just pop it in there and 4-table

Didn't get to play as many hands as I would've liked to tonight b/c I'm clearing some other stuff now as well, but I'm going to revise my estimate on # of hands necessary to clear 500 FPPs at $2-4 full at 1100-1200 regular (not raked) hands. This isn't too bad at all. Table selection is very important, FWIW.

I think you are close. 1100-1200 per 500FPP at 2/4 full ring. I am only playing there when I have some spare time and do not feel like party so I am sure my numbers have yet to converge but they seem to agree.

You can play 150 $11 sit and gos. If you 4 table that will take about 38 hours.

If you're going to 4-table SNGs, play the 15+1 turbos instead. Less % rake and a faster tourney time (something like around a 38-minute average versus a 53-minute average at the PS 10+1s, based on my own stats -- YMMV). If you 4-table continuously, you can get around 6 in per hour, on average, and can clear this in about 25 hours of play, give or take.

Play a few $500 HU matches. It'll be worked off in no time.

I got the latest bonus to clear at $3.20/hr/table at $1/$2. That's lower the BW claims at $4.50/hr/table, but this was during the bonus period when there were a whole lot of whores clearing.
