Since I found out I can play there...can you get a referal bonus and an initial deposit bonus? Also do they deduct MGR from their rakeback?

10-18-2005, 04:37 PM
I just started playing UB in the last week (since the Party thing). I got a 40% deposit bonus up to $200. I also have a 28% rakeback deal. The bonus clears penny for penny as you play. I play 50NL full ring and clear about $1.25 an hour per table for the bonus. I really like UB and it will probably be my main site for some time.

Are bonuses deducted from the MRG, and can you get a signup bonus as well as a referal bonus.

I can't emphasize a) enough. Their software alone gives me enough reason to play there.

I actually like the bonus. You get it penny for penny; you don't have to wait to play 1000 raked hands in 10 days or anything like that. In fact, I believe the bonus has no time limit to clear. I play two 50NL tables and clear a bonus of about $2.50 an hour. So when I play a 3-hour session I get about $7.50 added to my UB account. That's not bad at all for hours I was going to put in anyway. I like it.

it isn't deducted. You also get UB points at the same time.

Not quite. 25% of the bonus you clear is deducted from your MGR. This turns out to be a negligible amount at any stake higher than 0.5/1.

I find a lot of people saying the UB software is great and I've always been of the opinion that it pretty much sucks and that the only reason to play there is the mini-view.

What about it do y'all like so much?

where can you check UB bonus status?

I deposited $250 to get the full bonus.

I three-tabled 2/4 and it took me about 5 hrs to clear it.

a great thing about the bonus is they give it to you as you get the ultimate points, you don't have to play off all the points and get the bonus all at once.

On your My Account page. It shows you how much you have left to clear. Bonus is immediately credited to you as soon as you get up from a a table at the rate of 1 cent for every 0.1 ultimate points.

Edit: You win.

I'm new to UB, so I have a question. Does UB ever offer reload bonuses? how often and for amount generally, if they do?

CrashPat

yes they do. Every month or so, usually 100-200 max 25-50%

If you look at bonuswhores.com they have a reload history.

Pokershare, the UB skin has 100% up to $250 new player bonus. You can have a acct at both. Just have to have different screen names. Everything else can be the same including email. Bonuses work exactly the same.

10-19-2005, 09:40 AM
Are you able to withdraw any money before you clear the whole bonus? I deposited $500 for a 40% deal to get $200 in bonus. I've got about $40 in bonus so far. Can I withdraw $100 now without losing any of the rest of my bonus money? Anyone.

TCBSTEVE

Yes you can withdraw some of it.

Since you need 10 UB pts for every $1 in bonus money, and the rake structure is such that the max. you can earn in a pot is .5 UB pts, isn't this effectively worse than a 20x raked hands bonus requirement (and this doesn't take into account that some pots will only earn .25 UB pts)?

I was tempted to do it, but that clearance rate scares me...can someone try and convince me otherwise? (I would like to do it if it seems worthwhile).

It clears at over $3/hour/table at 2-4.
If you 3-table that is ~$10/hour.
If that is worth it then play, otherwise don't.

10-19-2005, 06:02 PM
Also, you have to realize that the UB bonus doesn't expire. So it's not like you have 10 days to complete it. Plus I like getting a little bit each time I play rather than having to wait to clear the whole thing. I play 2 50NL full ring tables and I clear about $2.50 an hour. UB has become my main site since the Party thing, so I don't mind $2.50 per hour juice money.

10-20-2005, 08:34 AM
Would playing Pokershare be essentially the same? I mean, if I had to choose between Pokershare and UB since they are on the same network and have similar bonuses, would it matter which I chose (or if I simply played both)?

Thanks.

The UB software is fantastic - easily the fastest out there. I am pretty sure I can get in 450 hands per hour 4-tabling 5/10 short. The games are good, too...

That said, the bonus clearing rate sucks (although the method (continual release) is superior to most sites.

I wish I had signed up there with rakeback, but it sounds like I'll just move over to Pokershare and do that.

if i can add my two cents,

i like UB b/c at the low micros i play (.25/.50) i can clear a bonus, which i generally can't do with any speed at any other site. playing .25/.50 6max, the bonus clears at about $1.20 an hour, which is fine with me. at .50/1 6max, it would clear about twice as fast.

I can't help but feel the UB bonus structure is the direction many poker rooms will end up going: big bonus, lots of reloads, doesn't expire, but requires a lot of hands to clear. they encourage you to make a big deposit, and have that money there for a long time(and thus making money for them via whatever investment porfolios they use).
from a business perspective, it makes a lot of sense to me.

I just opened up an UB account, do I need a code for the 40% up to $200 offer?

They are no longer allowing accounts at both UB and PokerShare.

I emailed UB and asked them to close my account. They did so no questions asked and I opened a new account with rakeback the next day.

You cleared this awhile back, I assume? There isn't any way you could clear $250 in bonus money in 5 hours... not with the structure setup the way it is. I'm lucky to clear $40 in bonus money on a night I play for 3 or 4 hours, and I play $3/$6 to $5/$10.
