View Full Version : Poker Rooms with Jackpots

Right now I am playing in only Jackpot rooms here in Vegas. I was in one table share and won 400 dollars in Oakland before, so I'm leaning towards playing Jackpot rooms. Right now I love playing at GVR (Green Valley Ranch and Stardust for 4-8 kill and 3-6 kill hoping for getting lucky to hit the jackpot or table share. I like it also because of the dollar comps, and I will use them to spend a day or two at the hotel at those places. But recently, even though I win measly, but I have been winning lately. It seems to me though that the Station's Casino has a lot of locals playing there hoping also to be part of the jackpot. That's why locals also like to play the Orlean's. I know on the strip, there are a lot of juicier games, but for some reason I can't get out of the mentality of a jackpot. If I get lucky, I'll get 50,000 dollars rather than playing at places where you only get high hands like the Alladin, Luxor, Etc... Is there anybody that can tell me about some really good bonuses here in Vegas for like 4-8? I heard at Luxor, they have a promotion that lasts for a few hours. I really need someone to convince me to play on the strip rather than at the Staion's Casino. It really does seem they are better quality players playing Stations.

Hi "No River",

The Monte Carlo does NOT have jackpots. They have high hands (and I love 'em, YMMV).

This is just my opinion... so YMMV.

Bad Beat Jackpots that attract the loosey goosey call all the way to the river "Just in case" crowd are amazing, and well worth the $1 extra drop. They justify their massive losses because they can make it up if they hit the big one.

However, the stories you are telling are of super-tight, extra rake places that is basically a bunch of 2+2er types all playing very tight and waiting for a jackpot.

I don't know if it is +EV to play for the jackpot vs the easier games... but I know it would bore the heck out of me to try to sit around with a bunch of rocks and old-men playing hours on end. Give me tourist and drunk hippies giving away money any day. I much prefer a steady 2-3 BB/hour instead of virtually 0 BB/hr and a chance at the jackpot.
