View Full Version : $6 + $0.50 Turbo Stars Early Middle Pair

This is the first hand I am posting for analysis, ever. This was I think the second hand of the SNG. My questions, besides whatever analysis you can offer, are was it right to raise, and right to fold? Thanks.

I think you should fold preflop. I can't imagine that KJ does that well against the raiser's range. On the flop I would not raise, but if you do you were correct to fold when he comes over the top.

I fold once preflop and twice on the flop

what would you have to have here to call with pf?
thanks for all the advice by the way, everyone.

Fold preflop. You can only get yourself into alot of sticky situations.

I dont like calling KJo in any position, I only play it for a raise on the button or cutoff if there are <3 limps, and after the flop I'm still cautious.

The turbos on stars go too fast to call off your stack preflop with hands that are often dominated, no matter how good your postflop skills are.

Also people on those low-buyin turbos think any ace is golden, so I'd probably fold the flop.

As a final aside, I would call there with KJs pf but only play on if I hit top pair or a flush draw (assuming i had odds of course), and I would probably check/call unless I had some read that I had the best hand; people can also tend to underplay their stronger hands such as AQ and sometimes AK pf at this level.

I think I would call with a pair and that's pretty much it. I am reraising with high pairs and AK, and folding everything else.

I said fold pf and still stick with that but do realize this is a $6.50 with total donks. Id call here with AQ and AK, I prefer to just call with AK this early. Id also call with pp's. Maybe 55 or 66 an up. QQ-AA I reraise. This is all general. Depends on the situation and that was off the top of my head. Id also maybe call small raises early with small suited connectors and try to hit a flop.

Thanks. I wasn't trying to question your judgement, just to understand the thinking behind it. One of the aspects of my game that needs work is preflop.

A general rule I use in the low SNG's is that if an Ace was dealt, the person with that Ace will want to see the flop 80% of the time, regardless of position. This makes AK and AQ even more valuable, because the donks will call off their entire stack with a pair of Aces, mid kicker in these early levels.
