Let's hear from you White Sox fans! I'm 35 years old, and I've been a Sox fan since the late 70's when I was old enough to turn on a TV by myself and watch them on channel 44. I've been through all the heart break. The '83 "Winnin' Ugly" team, the '93 ALCS loss to Toronto, the '94 strike year, the 2000 ugly sweep loss to the Mariners when we scored like 3 runs the whole freaking series. And not to mention the '01, '02, and '03 seasons when we were "supposed" to dominate the Central. I'm not going to lie -- I was really starting to wonder if I would ever see this happen. And I was starting to believe the media and the posters on this board who predicted the Sox wouldn't win a playoff series.

I'm happily married for 10 years and I've got two kids, so this isn't supposed to be the happiest day of my life so far -- don't tell anybody, but it is. /images/graemlins/wink.gif I'll tell you this...I'll be writing notes to my kids school starting next week, because they're going to be staying up way past thier bedtimes watching their White Sox in the World Series with thier old man!

Share your joy here, White Sox fans! This is our virtual locker room champagne dousing! Cheers! Go Sox!!! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

hey, you got to experience the south side hitmen of 77 and you were old enough in 83 to appreciate the divison win. I was only 3 /images/graemlins/smile.gif. 94 was a killer as Reinsdorf was one of the leading Owners the prompted the strike, and I have no doubt that we were going to be in the world series that year.

I grew up in the north burbs being one of the few sox fans there and have been to over 100 games in my life. I just wish I was back in chicago right now to share in the happiness as I'm surrounded by mets and yankees fans out here in Jersey.

All I have to say, being a long time Bills/Sabres/Braves fan, is don't get your hopes too high, if they lose you will be crushed. Especially with the way the umpires have been acting, any play could become a lifelong nightmare(Gant/Hrbek, Eric Gregg, Brett Hull, Music City Miracle, etc. etc.). Good luck to you guys. I hate the NL teams, so I'll be cheering you guys on.

My first real memory of baseball and the White Sox was when I was 5 years old and they clinched the pennant in '59. I remember my father jumping up and down and he was throwing our dog up in the air and catching him. It was a truly exciting and memorable time.

I have pretty much lived and died with every pitch ever since. I really think this current team has "it" whatever it is. I really believe this is a team of destiny. 4 more wins. I really don't want this to end though. The last few weeks and really all season have been magical.

I didn't expect too many replies. There aren't too many real White Sox fans out there. I think everybody is aware for whatever reason, we're the afterthought for baseball in this town. Sox fans are a small but loyal group.

And any minute now I'm expecting to start hearing from Yankees and/or Red Sox fans talking discussing how the TV ratings make it clear than nobody cares about baseball when the Red Sox/Yankees aren't in it, and baseball is boring when the Red Sox/Yankees aren't in it, the world is a better place when one of them is in the series, and...

Congratulations! Despite being a Yankee fan, and the pain of last year's horrible collapsing choke to the Red Sox, it was great that a team that hadn't won the World Series since 1918 won it. It's great that a team that had won only one pennant since Woodrow Wilson was president has won it. And it will be great if the White Sox and the Astros, a team that has never won a pennant, play each other in the World Series.

I won't go there. This is too good to bring it to that level. I'm encouraging all Sox fans to just enjoy this and don't get caught up in the petty "us against them" mentality. The Cubs won't be our WS opponent. Let's just take the high road here, and enjoy some success for a change.

Oh believe me I'm enjoying the success, but I also take great joy in the Cubs sucking, and I will take great joy in pointing out their suckiness to there fans for years to come.

I've been a diehard follower of the Sox since I was 12 (24 now) You may be asking; "What is a Sox fan doing in virginia?" Well it all started before I was really even in to sports, and I watched the movies Eight Men Out and Field of Dreams, and then shortly after that caught a few Sox games on WGN the year they had the awesome team that lost to Toronto in the LCS and I was hooked... I guess "long-suffereing" wouldn't really apply as I've only been suffereing for half my life, but I love baseball and I love the Sox, and I was planning on suffereing with this team for the long haul... This truly is a wonderful thing, and I'm not ashamed to say I cried like a baby when we got the final out in Anaheim... Go SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!

12.5 million people in Illinois
~8.5 million Cub fans
~4.0 million Card Fans
73,879 White Sox fans

Just kidding, but that is an exaggerated truth...happy for the Sox. They played the best baseball in the AL all year and deserved it. Also, I enjoy seeing the Cub fans squirm a bit. I only wish the Cards will hold up their end of the Cubs nightmare World Series.

Sox/Cubs smack talk is a way of life. It is encountered in almost every day and in every way. You can't hide from it because that's the way it is and the way it will always be. As Chicagoans it's part of who we are.

It's just too bad that the two best teams in MLB had to play each other in the ALDS.

(I kid I kid. Congrats and good luck to you guys.)
