Considering that villain is in big blind and could have nothing, could I make a weak flop bet to try to induce a bluff?

On turn, what should I have read Villain to have? (I can't see not calling, but the cards surprised me.)

Push the flop and this solves the problem. That said you have 10 outs to the river even if he does have the flush, all in on the turn.

Is this necessary? There has to be a better move. Personally, I prefer the way the OP played it. I think I'd play it the exact same way.

I think he played it perfectly. The thing is, he wants the flush draw to call on the flop. If he gives poor odds, he should welcome the call. He has the nuts on the flop and should do everything he can to trick a worse hand into putting as much money into the pot as possible.

Having 600 chips is only relevant if he plans to fold when raised. If he plans to do that, then betting half his stack makes no sense. Since he is inducing action, it makes perfect sense.

Fine. You're getting 3:1 to call the river bet for 10 outs if you're behind. Nothing wrong with that.

You wanted to get as much of his money as you can, so string him along. I generally try to avoid slow-playing if the villain can improve to a hand that beats me, I would have tried to get him to fold on the flop. You can win these things small bites at a time just as well as (or better than) you can win by trying to maximize every pot, I think. (emphasis on I )

I'd expect to see anything from a pair of 7's trying to represent the flush, to something like 7 4 sooted, to a flush. In descending order of probability.

Sucks if he beats you, but sometimes the bird in the bush has sharp pointy teeth...
