Barry Shulman's latest article about how "exciting it is" that Party Poker is adding many new features in anticipation of increased traffic due to cutting off their affiliates. He is saying this is great news for us all. "Hey,no more rakeback, but you can no play blackjack also..." I have lost all respect for Card Player.

They are with only a couple exceptions, basically an advertising rag now and should be shown minimal respect. Over 50% of their focus seems to be on tournaments which is only representative of poker on TV not as actually played. Any online professional who wastes $$ on a subscription is a donkey. Since the majority of us here play most of our time online, statements like Schulman's show that CP is out of touch with what matters to most online players who have no interest in playing negative expectation casino games and don't want to see the fish drained dry their either. If you combined the intelligence of party managment with that of CP, you still would only have a 2nd rate management team.

How do they suddenly get to be as good as second rate?

CP does this all the time. I lost totally respect for them when they ran an article about how great Partys WSOP steps were. Can you believe you can go to the WSOP for 11$? NO WAY!

The magazine is garbage... There are much better resources for strat articles.

You are right, but I didn't want to sound harsh, just realistic.

It is clear that CP's journalistic integrity is compromised by such gushing enthusiasm of party's moves which is just to make it seem to outsiders in the stock market that the poker community welcomes them enthusiastically. Barry Schulman made a comment on announcing the recent financial injection by various poker and non-poker celebrities that CP would be the "go to source" for information on poker. That is laughable not only because 2+2 is that source but also because they are really their advertisers' "go to source" for non-critical support for outside consumption. This is all PR and nothing else.

If that's not true then all they have to do to prove otherwise is to commission a long article on the pro's and con's of the major online sites seen through players' eyes and report the player views objectively. I'm holding my breath now.

Someone should come up with a intellectually pure poker magazine. For players by players. Oh ya, the link is in the upper left hand corner of my screen.
