Villain in this hand is terrible. I had a great read on him, he would always checkraise top pair on the turn, regardless of what the flop looked like.

Final Pot: 8.75 BB

I was fairly confident that villain was on a flush draw. Betting the turn was obviously wrong, because he's either calling or raising. My question is about the river. I didn't think i'd be able to get him to lay down a jack, but I'd seen him fold some pretty decent hands on the river for 1 bet before. Is this too fancy? Thanks in advance

and if you have the best hand here why is betting wrong? also he could fold the turn.

really, you saw him fold some good hands on the river?

in conclusion, you either raised with the best hand and he folded, or you raised and he called you with something that beat you. the best thing about these guys is that they'll call with ace high here.

No, but that's not really my point. I didn't think he had anything here.

Still, too fancy?

why did you raise the river then?!?!?!@#?!@#

and an aside: this reminds me of playing no limit with my buddies. when one of them massively raises a pot with top pair, i ask him, "why did you just do that? he's only going to call you if he has you beaten." one of them will always chime in, "but i fcking BOSSED HIS ASS." HEY GREAT JOB DUDE, YOU MADE HIM FOLD HIS BLUFF.

He was all over the board. Loose and weak, almost.

fwiw, i took it down, he had KT

In retrospect i'm not sure the turn check was correct, but I really felt confident that i could get him to bluff that river with a weaker hand. I sure didn't expect to get called.
