Played it a couple years ago. Quit after there were so many dupes and cheats out.

Playing it online is fun as hell for some reason.

My roommates were pretty hardcore players a few years ago, they had a lot of level 90+ characters. I've always looked down upon games like this, including final fantasy. I never really thought I'd enjoy them and I didn't really give this one much of a chance. However, after playing it for a few days, it's pretty enjoyable. They are helping me out a lot, and that is probably the main reason I'm going to continue to play.

If they weren't here to help, I woulda given up on this game 30 minutes into it.

I'm a level 21 barbarian atm

The Diablo games are great fun, though I liked the first one better. That was unbelievably great fun when it came out. But they are so hacked and cheated that it kind of destroys the fun and challenge a lot of the time. And the user community can be among the worst on the planet.

its always nice having a friend power you through level 60 in a day and giving you sweet items /images/graemlins/grin.gif

dude townkill was the best

kill some dude, take his items, then teleport across the river and drop the items to where he cant get them, and leave the game. hilarious.

Ya, make sure you find someone to power level you through the game and get you sweet items. I played it for a couple of months online doing this until I got bored.

I used to play Diablo a lot. I can't believe how many hours I wasted slaying innocent cows. At least it was fun scamming Germans.

Nope. The cofounders and bunch of the designers that came up with Warcraft, Diablo, and Starcraft series left Blizzard awhile back when a company bought them out. If the Blizzard now tries to make a sequel, it'll probably suck big time since all their talent is gone...

Makes me very sad Blizzard was pretty much the best PC game company around, and I was waiting on Starcraft 2... /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Used to play it a lot... my friend and I would stay up all night playing it. We even had a bot controlling a Sorceress that would continually kill that Pindleskin and pick up the godlike items. It would do this while we slept or were busy. Needless to say, we had some pretty bitching items /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Never played any Diablo games, but wasted 5 years laying EQ. At least I made money and used for a new addiction.

I beat the game in single player a long time ago. Then a couple years ago over winter break I started playing online. Played a bunch for a couple weeks, got a lvl 50 something character, realized the game was boring and stopped. It's fun for a bit, but really repetative.

2 felt way more repetitive than 1 to me. The dungeons had more variety in 1. I grew tired of 2 very quickly, but 1 blew me away and I played it endlessly. One hell of a good game.

Like usual with Blizzard games, though, too many cheats and hacks, and one of the worst player communities possible.

Pwn you all. my buddie ran 8 versions of this at one time, for like 5/hrs a day, and made about 40 an hour selling SOJ's or something on Ebay. He and his dad did this, and they went to Hawaii w/ the family. Intense, but i play a little.

Was Diablo the one where the guy jams the rock in his head to contain the evil?

Yeah, that's the last movie scene in the first Diablo. Then he goes wandering off into the wilderness.

Yeah, I think that was the cinematic ending for Diablo I. Or was that the beginning to Diablo II?

Mysterious hero aka Warrior contains Diablo into a Soulstone I believe, and the only way to control his power was to merge with it by sticking it into his body.

Actually I just started playing this today as a matter of fact. It's a little boring, but I imagine it will pick up once I get some better items. On that note, anyone have any spare stuff? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

My roommate started it up again 10 days ago and got his character up to level 72, downloaded a map hack and got banned.

They banned him within 30 minutes of use, it was crazy. Blizzard is on top of things. He had to go buy another copy cuz they banned his CD key.

Blizzard being on top of things sounds like a contradiction in terms. Good to hear that they're putting more effort into things.

hardcore pvp was tons of fun before hacks/bots took over completely.
The only game I still play is Dota for wc3, which is alot less time demanding.
Try it, itīs awesome.

On USEAST I used to have an 88 Sorce with 410 Magic find that I'd take on Mephisto runs to sell uniques/charms on eBay. But that was in 2001. Had a 90 amazon and 74 druid also. I was one of the very first people to get a full Suzabis set and sold it for $142 on eBay. One of the very first to get War Traveller boots and got $125 for them lol. Made about $6,000 total off that game.

I solo'd Diablo Hell at level 36 with my Amazon. That game is all about gear.

On the current ladder season I have a level 89 Paladin with ~530MF... don't have quite the awesome gear yet though.

Posting on behalf of someone else:

Diablo really is all about getting the best possible gear. It's true to an increased degree in PVP (player vs. player, for those who don't know), but even if you don't duel, you won't have nearly as much fun playing the game without decent gear, because there will always be the pressure to improve. So what it really comes down to is your devotion. There is a microcosm of an economy in this one game, and if you want to be "financially successful", you need to keep track of everything or you fall out of the loop. I did, because I hated the people and I hated the trading, and now I'm selling my gear.

By the way, they patched all the hacks. So none of that [censored] anymore; it's a legit environment other than the remaining dupes.

I gave up Diablo II when I started playing poker. I just checked my accounts. Most of my characters have expired, but I have a few left.I gave away most of my top-notch stuff when I quit, and some more disappeared with the expired characters. But I still have a few items. IK Set, SOJ's, annihulus charms (2 I think), bunch of random stuff. It's all on US East NL SC. PM me if you want the accounts.
