Although I was mainly a stud player for years I am slowly converting to Holdem. I am new to the online chat and was wondering /forums/images/icons/confused.gif if someone could run down the holdem abbreviations for me and tell me what they mean by B&M cardrooms? Thanks in advance for all your help.

B&M means a real "Brick and Mortar" building.
In other words, playing live while seated at a real table in a real building.
as opposed to playing on the Internet.

Hi Baseball, and welcome!
Some quick abbreviations for you...
BB = Big Blind OR Big Bet
SB = Small Blind OR Small Bet
UTG = Under the Gun (first to act pre-flop)
Button = Player that holds the "dealer" button (last to act on all post-flop bettting rounds)
CO = Cutoff, the person seated to the rigth of the button
HU = Heads-up (only 2 people remain in the hand)
HE = Hold'em
TOP = Theory of Poker (book)
HPFAP = Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players (book)
EV = Expected value (as in "this hand has a positive EV")
This is a start, hopefully it will help you out some...

Rock Lobster forgot one of my favorites
BOHICA = Bend Over Here It Comes Again. Especially useful when your AA got run down by 93s and you pick 'em up a couple of hands later...
