6 handed 15-30. I have red sixes in the cutoff and open raise. Only the fish in the small blind calls.

Flop: J /forums/images/icons/spade.gif J /forums/images/icons/club.gif 4 /forums/images/icons/heart.gif

He bets, I raise he calls.

Turn:3 /forums/images/icons/diamond.gif

He checks, I bet he calls.

River: K /forums/images/icons/heart.gif

He checks, I bet he calls.

Comments?

Hot Tub Man #1,

It appears that your opponent had a 4 (perhaps A4) and decided to call you down. I like your bet on the end.

hi hot tub
check down the river here hot. you need to be in the lead more 50% of the time, when your opponent calls. you've got to check this one down hot.

Well, I think you are ahead more than 50% of the time. And anyway, bets by you begets fear in them, and fear in them begets bets for you.

If he will call you with ace high (likely in a 6 handed game vs a fish), you certainly should bet. If he won't, checking or betting is probably even money. If he calls your bet, he is probably just as likely to have 77-TT or a King, then a smaller pair, but if you throw in the AX's then its a good play.

Plus, as has been pointed out, there are other benefits to thin value betting the river.
