im still having difficulty putting ppl on hand ranges, I normally have an idea as to whether i am beat or not, but i think its more of a "feel" aspect... I truly have trouble putting ppl on hand ranges, how exactly do you think it thorugh/ an example would be nice thanks /images/graemlins/smile.gif

There was some post about the hands people play at a given VPIP and PFR. Not sure where that post went, but I think it was pretty helpful.

Just wanted to bump this as the linked post is really worth a read.

I read this post and really tried to apply it to my play today and it helped a great deal. I know that reading opponents hands is something we all need help on and I think by doing what Droolie suggests here you will improve your game.

One thing I started doing a few months ago which I wasn't doing before is to really analyze the texture of the flop. This forces you to think about what sort of hands the opponent would play on that flop. Combine that with their preflop action and you can usually narrow the hands down pretty well. If the turn action seems to contradict what happened on the flop, go with the turn action (usually either the opponent was overplaying on the cheap street or slowplaying - when the bets get bigger the true hand strength tends to come out).
