Standard Yahoo league, start one QB, ten team league.

The QBs I have are Brett Favre, Eli Manning and Kerry Collins. I would like to get rid of one for some WR help.

We start three WRs and there's also a slot for W/R. I usually start Terrell Owens, Larry Fitzgerald and Rod Smith. But TO and Fitz have a bye this week. I'm in first place w/ a 5-0 record and I'm playing the guy in second place who has a 4-0-1 record. So this is a bad time to have my big guns out.

I'm trading Kerry Collins and Jeremy Shockey for Jason Witten and Jimmy Smith.

Thoughts?

I realize Shockey+Collins > Witten+Smith but I really have no use for 3 QBs. And like I said, I do need the WR help.

Then my starters for this week will be Rod Smith, Jimmy Smith and Chris Henry.

In future weeks it will be TO, Fitz and Jimmy Smith.

Thoughts? thanks much.

I would make this trade every time in your situation.

My opponent this week has Donovan McNabb on the roster but he has a bye. He also has Ben Roethlisberger, what's his status for this week? And he just picked up Gus Frerotte. Should be interesting.

its a good trade for you. you upgrade at 2 positions and he only gains a backup.

Is dealing Jeremy Shockey for Jason Witten an upgrade? I wouldn't think so but I could be wrong, it's happened once before.

I would say no go on this trade. Collins is actually an effective QB. Now Farve has been on fire the past 2 weeks, but he will probably get more INT's than Collins. Collins makes a lot of completions so his fantasy numbers are good.

I think Witten is one of the best TE in the league. However, the cowboys offense is doing quite well with Keyshan, T. Glenn, and the new guy P. Crayton. Not to mention with Parcells loving to run screen plays to the RB. Witten is a great player, he simply will not get the ball nearly as much as Shockey. Last year Shockey had a low productive year. Now Shockey seems to be one of Eli's favorite targets. Lastly Jimmy Smith has been a huge question mark. Some games he gets over 100yds with TD's, and then other weeks he has little production. His inconsistency makes him a bad fantasy starter.

For Collins/Shockey there has to be a better package of players to get. So I would highly advise against the trade.

I'd try to do it with Favre, or someone unlike Collins.

J. Smith is nice though, and you do need to pick up a WR.

Based on your situation, I think it's a very good idea to make this trade.

I would do it, but only after shopping Collins around a bit to see if you can't get a little better WR. See if there is a team w/ a weak QB and a stud #2 WR (someone like Wayne/Boldin/Fitzgrld)

I'm not sure I like the idea of trading Collins to this particular team on this week. Collins vs San Diego crappy secondary. Seriously, it was hard for us to stop much weaker pass offenses, we're not gonna stop Moss. So lets assume Shockey=Witten. I think a spot start at WR should be in order, and look elsewhere to trade Collins. I think you'd be giving him more points total, because the difference from Collins and Frerotte is much greater than FA spot start and Jimmy Smith. This analysis is for this week only, not looking towards your teams best interests for the rest of the season, cuz I don't know them.

Basically what I'm trying to say is, its a horrible week to give Collins to your main competition.
