Let's share our enjoyable recent purchases, anything from a TV to a shirt to a chair.

Mine is a rice cooker that I got for my dorm room this year. This thing is UNBELIEVABLY useful since I eat almost nothing (never had a hamburger, hot dog, etc.) so I just eat rice with Jewel rotisserie chicken at least three times a week. You just put in the rice and water and press a button and boom, it even keeps it warm if you don't want to eat it all right away. These things are not expensive and rice is super cheap so it's good financially too.

A DEI Viper branded 1100.5 car amplifier.

5 channel with the sub channel 1ohm stable putting out 600watts rms and the stereo channels I belive doing around 75 watts rms @ 4ohms or 110rms @ 2 ohms.

It's great, because I sold all my other amps about 2 months ago and have had nothing in there for a long time, it's nice to have sound again.

A short vacation to SoCal. Going to see some friends. Probably will need a nap when I get back. Oh, and there will be some card gambooling with rich fish so I expect a profit after expenses. I did this a year ago and had a great time and came back in the black so I am fired up for it again.

Could you (or Patrick maybe) go over this a little more? Did you go to the butcher's counter at your grocery store, or an actual butcher shop? Do you just ask for a "huge beef soup bone?" How do you cook it? I'm a first-time dog owner so I'm curious.

Anyways, my favorite recent purchase is pretty simple: either this tap handle

I just went to the butchers counter at the grocery store. First I asked if he had any left over beef bones, when he said "yes" I asked him for the biggest leg bone he had. To cook it, just boil it in a big pot of water for an hour or two.

Oh and make sure to leave it sit out to cool down before giving it to your dog, also cooked bones make a pretty big mess so be careful where you let him chew on it.

Yeah, I can't really go into details, it's a pretty powerful amplifier, not competition level or anything, but for a daily driver, it works fantastically. I need to pick up some components now so it can do it's thing.

I haven't gone the soup bone route. But I do often buy something called a shank bone. The local butcher actually flavors them with hickory or something. Takes my dog a day or two trying to snake her tongue into the thing to retrieve the marrow. If it's not smoked it's usually bloody and either way she is in heaven. I only let her have it outside though since it's messy and I need to consider the wife's reaction to a messy carpet. I buy a few of these and if they are the bloody variety I freeze them until ready to hand them out.

An adjustable kettlebell from USKettlebells.com. Not the usual plateholder, but a perfectly round construction with some of the horizontal plates cast with some of the middle missing to lighten them, so it can be adjusted from 35 to 70 pounds. Very useful and fun to exercise with.

Did you buy two so that you could use one to take a picture of the first one?!

Yes, and he also decided to add "PMA Orlando" and "LetsGoDigital" to the picture to be extra nifty.

You guys are funny. I used a mirror. I added the text with my second-favorite recent purchase: photoshop.

How did you manage to get the picture off and keep the lens cover at the same time? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

All the ivory used is pre-ban ivory. Water buffalo horn is not obtained by killing the animal. And bacon tastes good. Pork chops taste good.

no just saw the headphones. i fear for the future. our generation is going to have no hearing because of headphone computing and ipods.

That's your favorite recent purchase? What was worse, some poop in a paper sack and a match?

Leather bench for the bedroom. Most enjoyable for dressing, lacing up shoes, and...let's just say every bedroom should have one.

I can definetly agree with the RICE COOKER. When I was in college I ate nothing but rice and froozen pot pies for about a 3 month span. But it was good to have food.

Yup. A huge time saver. I would dump frozen veggies in mine and often different kinds of spices, and either make it a complete and very nutritious meal in itself or treat it as a side-dish. About as lazy as you can possibly get, yet quick healthy(and dirt cheap) food.

This is really nerdy.

I bought a Vintage Radioshack Tandy computer and monitor from 1979. Hasn't arrived yet though.

Yes that is really nerdy.
How much did you spend on that?
Please don't say you spent a 'collectors item' price on it, because it's just not a collectors item yet (it will be soon though, then you'll be laughing).

Hmm ok thats about £20. Being the antiques dealer that I am I can conclude that thats quite a good price for what've you got there. Give it 10 years and it'll prove to be a nice investment,

Once you recieve it it'll be awesome! You'll be living in the 80s for the next few weeks fo sho.

really tough call - since I quit drinking I've let money sorta burn a hole in my pocket -

probably my new Plasma TV I bought this week - though my Dell 2001 FP is sweet too - and then I've been X-boxing my way thru most nights -

don't ask me to pick my new favorite child. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
