Paradise 3/6 game ... fell apart and were just 2 of us left.

Opponent has taken a few shots at me on the flop, but generally gives up when played back at.

I'm the SB with K6h and raise, BB calls.

Flop: 4d Jc 3h
I bet out, he raises. I call.

Turn: 5s
I check, He bets, i raise, he re-raises, I cap

River: Ad
I bet ....

Comments?

I don't get it. Am I misreading the board? You've just got a one card open ended straight draw and an overcard, right?

You said your opponent gives up when you play back at him. Well, you played back at him and he 3-bet. He must have a real hand, one he's not likely to fold. I think your cap was way overaggressive. You tried to semi bluff and got caught. Even heads up I think that's time to cut your losses, call the 3-bet and check fold the river if you miss.

Did the A scare him enough that he actually folded on the river?

Well I probably got lucky here, but he folded. I certainly didn't expect that, but figured I had to take one more shot at the pot. A few hands later I actually won a showdown with Jack-high so I think he started tilting pretty bad sometime after this hand. I was able to collect enough off this guy in the 10 min we were heads up to make up for the $80 I lost while the game was full. Granted, this hand was a big part of that.
