View Full Version : Pokerstars vs. Party rake structure (rakeback related)

With the lower rake structure at Pokerstars, you are paying less rake than you would at Party.

Has anyone worked out the numbers on what this would be equivalent to in terms of rakeback? In other words, you aren't getting rakeback at either site, but playing at Pokerstars makes it appear like you're getting X% in rakeback when compared to Party because of the lower rake structure.

What is X equal to?

I did a calculation based on 200 SNG, the 'rakeback' rate is about 4.8%.

I wonder if anyone has logged a substantial number of hands on both sites to get a comparison in the low and middle-limit full and shorthanded games?

At least for No Limit Hold 'em games, I fail to see how the rake is any different. Both sites (Party and Stars) have 5% rake capped at 3$.

Here's what I've got from my low limit O8 games. These are (vast majority) full ring games.

stakes--hands--avg rake--% of the pot

PARTY
$.50/1 5546 $0.43 5.0%
$1/2 5127 $0.67 4.15%
$2/4 2202 $1.07 3.63%

STARS
$.50/1 2976 $0.28 3.40%
$1/2 2181 $0.56 3.70%
$2/4 372 $1.11 3.26%

Paradise was comparable to Stars.

EDIT: I just realized it might be what you're looking for, but use as you see fit.

Good question, SCG. I'm interested in this too. But it shouldn't take a substantial amount of hands. Average rake should converge very quickly. A few hours of play on a couple of different tables should give you a pretty good estimate.

I keep mentioning this and everyone ignores it.

This thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=micro&Number=3008696) from the micro forum has data from many popular sites for limits 3/6 and below. It actually looks like Stars lower rake structure IS almost equivalent to a Party skin rakeback deal.

Edit: Yes, this is for limit. Looks like the NL players are out in the cold.
