View Full Version : Bluffing question

In my constant pursuit to improve my game I have notice that I do not bluff often enough or when I do bluff it is often at the wrong times. This got me thinking about how I need to improve on this part of my game. So, my question is excluding stealing blinds shorthanded in a game, what is it that you look for in determining whether or not to try a bluff? What does it take for you to give up on a bluff?

At the lower limits, there's very little need to bluff. ABC poker will win you a lot of money against loose players.

For a bluff to pay off you need to be able to figure the chance your opponent will fold and what chance you have to win if they call. The best bluffs are semi-bluffs with drawing hands / pairs / overcards because you don't necessarily mind if they call or re-raise.

You'll get better responses if you post some hands where you decided to bluff.

When I think my opponents will fold, based on position, stack sizes, and past behavior.
