I was once again happy to see during my trip to 7-11 that they still sell these things. Not that I have ever bought one, they just amuse me greatly. For those of you who have never seen them, you really must, but here is a brief description. There are several varities of flavors, and each variety features a horribly drawn picture of a rapper or a group. Such as Master P, Dirt McGirt, Lil' Romeo, Youngbloodz, and Dirty. Also, these chips come in some strange flavors, such as Xtra spicy riblets. However, the best part is that each bag comes with a motivational message such as:
"Earn your degree"
"Start a business"
"knowledge is power"
" Pimp Education"
" Get Crunk "

Yup, those are what the say. So I think what I really like about these snacks is that they expose America's children to the delightful world of Southern Crunk music and poor eating habits, all wrapped up in a motivational message. God's work my friends.

I live in DC. Shockingly this is the only snack food my corner bodega stocks. No Fritos, no Doritos, not even generic potato chips. Just Rap Snacks. They are actually pretty good.

The bodega owners (the Lees natch) are Korean. I can just picture them ordering from the supplier and arguing over what black people like to eat. The funny thing is that in the past couple of years my neighborhood has gotten progressively whiter and gayer and still the Rap Snacks remain.
