View Full Version : How do these chips look?

10-10-2005, 07:49 PM
I was going to buy some faux clays plus labels for them when I saw these (http://cgi.ebay.com/500-Pure-Clay-3-Color-Poker-Chips-N5-Chipset-Case-New_W0QQitemZ6216139133QQcategoryZ63759QQrdZ1QQcmd ZViewItem) on ebay. They sure are cheap but for $50 shipped they look good to me.

Opinions?

Just so you know, these are just regular slugged chips. The pure clay line is a total scam.

At the beginning of the auction it says,
"100% Pure Clay Like Real Casino Chip No-Metal Inserted 9.5grams"

A few lines down it says,
"These chips are some of the most durable on the market, utilizing a high-tech clay composite with a metal center"

I would not want to buy from someone who thinks we are idiots.

Decent looking for the price, they are not real clay though.

I see they are sold did you buy them?

yep, I know they can't be clay at that price /images/graemlins/wink.gif, but still, compared to other cheap chips such as faux clays I guess they cant be that bad?

more opinions, people?

No, but its likely I'll buy them later if i get convinced /images/graemlins/smile.gif
My thought is that getting them will be cheaper and better looking in the end than faux+labels; dont know the feel of the real weight tough.

I think I saw these chips on another forum, and someone said they were completely fake. Not sure, but IMO I wouldn't buy them. E-bay is risky, but this guy does have over a 98% positive feedback.

They are nexgens with labels. You got them for a very good price. Faux clay handle and stack better for people who are used to handling "real" chips but all your buddies will think they are the best chips ever. Your new chips kick the hell out of faux clay in the looks department and give up very little in the playability department.

Why not just do an easy promo on PokerSourceonline?

Subjectively, I'd say these look a lot like Paulson classics, obviously they're not going to sound or feel like that, but at 10 cents a chip, I'd say go for it.

I may be wrong, but .... Don't the NexGens say "Las Vegas" around the rim. Also, I couldn't find a matching edge spot pattern for any NexGens that matched this.

FWIW, I wouldn't buy these. They're clearly not 100% clay, and clearly metal slugged, which contradicts the listing. As a general matter, I don't like to buy from such people.

On the other hand, these chips will certainly work in a poker game (as will any other chip, coin, bottle cap, matchstick, etc), and if you like the way they look, go for it. $50 delivered isn't that much, so you can't get really burned.

Personally, I like the feel and sound of the faux clay, but this is all personal preference.
