Seriously? In any section of the city that is heavily populated by Italians, they usually have a big colombus day parade. It was pretty sweet, they had a lambo/ferrari car club day along with the parade, there were some [censored] sweet cars out there.

Columbus Day is probably too controversial for Google. Wasn't there a Sopranos episode where American Indians protested at a Columbus Day parade and somebody punches somebody?

I don't think anything is too controversial for google. I'm fairly certain they are saying something by intentionally failing to customize today. They customize well over 100 times a year.
