This is a hand from the $250k guar on expekt earlier today.
Blinds are 400/800, avg stack is about 17k i think. Theres about 140 ppl left, 80 gets cash Villain is new to the table, this is his first hand.

All fold to Villain (9700) who makes is 1800 from LP. All fold to me (11400) in BB w/ ATo. Should I push here?

Since this is his first hand you have to give him a little credit but if it looks like a steal and smells like a steal then it must be a steal lol. I still push though.

see the problem here IMO is how much are you gonna push and still not pot-commit your self?
i mean he makes it 1800 and you have about 11K,say if you make it 4K your leaving your self with 7K and giving him 2:1 odds,which makes this an easy call for him no unless he has made a move with 72o.
if you try to make the call harder form him bu rasing more,your really commiting your self to the pot.
seen as this is his first hand i think it would be wiser if you let this one go.

if you push you only get called if you're beaten. making it 3600 to go will tell you more about your hand for 1/4 of your stack instead of all of it.

you'll have to call the push if you make it 3600.. plus hands that 'beat you' like mid pairs, you shouldnt be upset when they call you, you're still making money, theres enough dead money in the pot to flip for his stack.

"push" means all-in.

There isn't anything wrong with an overbet push from time to time. His raise isn't very strong besides.
