View Full Version : Changing tables

10-10-2005, 12:20 PM
I've played a couple multi-table freerolls recently as my first venture into MTT. It seems that every time, no matter how well I'm doing, when I get moved to a new table, I immediately lose. I go in playing the same as I did at my other table, and I always seem to get busted really quickly.

How do you handle changing tables?

Decide the image you want to have and play that way. If you want to be viewed as tight, start playing tight. This helps since you don't have any reads on what anybody else is doing...it gives you a chance to sit back and see what they are doing.

I generally play pretty tight, don't get involved unless I have a monster, and play very straightforward, not risking chips where I'm not too sure. This gives you time to gather reads and develop a tight image, which helps you steal later. Of course, I don't waste that much time on this if I think this table is going to break up soon (like if its in a Party MTT and you know the order tables break up).

That's what I try to do, just wait around and go aggressive at the pot when I have a strong hand. Then, I move to another table, get a couple high pocket pairs, and get busted really fast. The one day, every time I'd raise PF, the same couple guys would hit me back. It's hard to figure out if they're just maniacs and bullying, or if they've got a higher PP. When it's the same one a couple times in a row, it's hard to believe they've got the couple hands that have me beat.

When I say that, I mean, I was playing AJs or TT and higher. I didn't see a reason not to bring QQ or KK in for a raise in MP.
