Has anyone ever bough prescription medication online (w/o a prescription)?

How stupid of an idea is this?

I don’t have health insurance but need some antibiotics. Of course, I would have to drop a couple hundred just to go to the doctor and have him write the prescription that I’m 100% sure I need anyway. This is a lot of money to me.

I should probably just man up and throw down the money rather than roll the dice online?

I always buy those medicines sent to me by spammers. There's nothing better than mail order Viagra knock-offs!

Just to clarify, all I need is some simple antibiotics.

And yes, I expect this type of response

If you live anywhere near Mexico, go there.

/images/graemlins/grin.gif It's still never a good idea to buy medicine online. All sarcasm aside, it can be dangerous....and a scam.

Not to be a dick, but there is a reason why you have to be a Doctor to perscribe medicine. You can either hurt yourself or get the wrong stuff, do you have a family friend who is a doctor, of a friends mom or dad. I go this route all the time. Saves a bundle of $$ and time.

I've ordered meds online and received exactly what I ordered. It was a few years ago, however, so I can't really recommend a specific site since I don't remember which one I used.

And no, it wasn't from the moronic spammers in my junkmail folder.

I work with kids, one of whom had strep throat for weeks but just recently found out about it. A couple days ago, my throat starts going nuts. I’ve had strep 100 times, and know that I now have it. Thus, I know I just need amoxicillin.

I already did think about your suggestion but don’t know anybody’s parents who are doctors. There just seems like there has to be a way around laying down like $300 here.

From what I understand, you'll probably get the best advice from the drugbuyers.com forums (http://drugbuyers.com/).

steal the kids antibiotics

I told the kid I was going to steal it. He didn't seem to care. Of course, I might as well quit if I am there f***ing the kids over.

Hilarious, nonetheless.

go to the yellow pages and call around... explain your situation to the person on the other end. I am sure that you can find a doc that will see you for a small fee. tell them you don't have insurance and you are paying cash. find the cheapest and go there. call the urgent care places also, god bless insurance.

screw the antibiotics.... where can I get pain pills?

I don't think Amoxycillin is very expensive. I think by the time you receive the medicine, pay their fees or whatever, you would be much better going to the doctor and paying the $30-50 for the anti-biotics. Plus, you will pass it to other people as well and possibly get sicker.

If you are serious, go here (http://drugbuyers.com/) as Ethan mentioned earlier.

Read up about this kind of thing. The feds can seize your shipments, but it's not all that likely to happen, and from my reading, it looks like you're not all that likely to get prosecuted if they do.

If you know anybody who goes to Mexico regularly, you can get penicillin and the like over the counter there, and real cheap. Might be worth the asking.

do any of these places sell ADD meds?

TightIsRight

This is pretty irrelevant to the subject of the post, but I found the following on webmd. My biased reading suggests that it is +EV for me to skip paying for a doctor's visit, strep culture, and medication:

Strep Throat

Treatment Overview

Antibiotics such as penicillin, cephalexin, or amoxicillin are used to treat strep throat. Antibiotics are effective only against bacterial infections such as strep throat and will not speed the healing of sore throats caused by viral infections such as colds or allergies.
Strep throat will go away in 3 to 7 days with or without treatment. Antibiotics are effective in relieving the symptoms of strep throat only if they are given within 48 to 72 hours after symptoms begin. However, antibiotics are commonly used to treat strep throat because they:
· Kill the bacteria and shorten the time you are contagious. You are usually no longer contagious 24 to 48 hours after starting antibiotics.
· Prevent rare complications. Although uncommon, strep bacteria can spread to other parts of your body causing ear or sinus infections or an abscess on the tonsils (peritonsillar abscess). Antibiotics may also prevent the infection from triggering your immune system to attack itself and cause serious conditions such as rheumatic fever.
· Relieve discomfort and speed healing to some degree.

I guess the "rare complications" are why when I was a kid the doctor would always say strep might not go away on its own. and that if it didn't go away it could get really bad.

I had bad ear infections regularly as a kid due to being in swim team, and colds and flus still often infect my ears, too. I'm pretty scared that serious infections like strepp could mess me up badly.

I always seem to get strepp really badly when I get it. I don't know why, but if there's a group of 50 people and only two get strepp, one will be me, and I'll get it so bad my whole throat will get enough bloody blisters that the doctor always looks really startled and concerned. So I take their cue and take it seriously.

I don't know why, I guess it's my individual genetics or something, but strepp hits me really hard and fast, and I catch it super easily. None of my friends or family will have it, just me, but somehow I manage to be the only one with it, time and again. That infection scares me.

No. The infection can very easily spread (like to your heart for example). My mother is a nurse and shes seen people die from untreated Strep.
