How much stealing of his BB have you been doing of late? Perhaps he's just making a stand? Even solid players will re-shove with junk if you've been raping their BB for 10 minutes.

I have not been stealing the blinds very often. I doubt he was pulling a reshove with junk.

What makes you so sure he wouldn't repush with garbage? If villan is smart he realizes that you could be raising with trash trying to pick up the blinds and that if he comes over the top you're not going to call unless you have a big hand given that the shortstack has less than 3BB. I'd probably call here and expect to be ahead enough to make it profitable but I don't hate folding either.

I would open push prelop. However if you choose that line I think you need to call getting great odds, and you will have over half the chips in play if you win.
