laptop monitor question

Looking at laptops in a store I saw one w/ a 15" monitor and 1200*1600 capability. So I switched to that setting, but the desktop didn't fit the screen and you had to scroll side to side and up and down to see everything.

Is there any way around this? If not, what is the smallest monitor size that will work w/ 1200*1600 resolution?

research what the "native resolution" is for your display, that's what the max size will be without it going to a "virtual resolution".
