I haven't been playing much in the past few weeks, but this hand came up tonight. I figured that I couldn't keep 4 other people in with this flop, and that my move didn't look too suspicious because I had position. So should I have checked here instead of betting small?

I think it is fine. If no one has a K or a nice draw, you are not getting paid. Just the way things go every now and then.

Even though I think someone would lead out with a strong flush draw here, IMO they may very well have checked a couple of weak diamonds or the broadway draw. Moreover, the pf action is so small that you need to throw in a sweetner here to get some real action on your set on 4th and 5th.

In other words, I like the bet.

Unless everybody else limped with small pockets, I don't know what they're doing in the hand if they can't call that bet on that flop. Maybe somebody limped AQ, seen AK & AQ limped a few times recently, so maybe that's why I'm thinking this. You're bet is good, you're right, you don't want to give any draws (and there are bunches of them) good odds.

Perfect bet, all day, everyday.

If you had checked here, you'd likely be posting now because someone drew out on you on the turn. If you DO check here and get action on the turn, you likely are in trouble.
