500 at three levels: This doesn’t really prove anything. I just wanted to show my progression through levels so far since I’ve been taking Party-structure SNG poker seriously. If you’re just starting to play, this is kind of what you should expect if you’re decent, but not “good” at poker in general.

11’s: The first 302 were 1, 2, and 4-tabling. The last 198 were 8-tabling. The 8-tabling didn’t go so well. I was running bad and playing bad, which doesn’t make for happy results. On the plus side, a 45-buyin drop hurts way less when you’re playing at 1/3 of your normal level.

composite stats:
ROI=6.5%, ITM=36.0%, $2.17/hr
58/52/70/57/60/65/56/33/32/17
8-tabling:
ROI=-17.8%, ITM=32.3%, $/hr I don’t want to know

22’s: I moved up to the 22’s at the end of March with a bankroll of about $600. I 4-tabled them through the end of June (about 250 tourn) before moving up to the 33’s. After getting rocked at the 33’s, I played another 250 or so in July. It sucked to be running bad the whole time. Every time I started to build my bankroll, one of those pesky 20 buy-in downswings would show up. By the middle of July, I’d finally ground out enough to move back to the 33’s.

ROI=6.7%, ITM=37.0%, $6.31/hr

33’s: Finally, poker stops hating me long enough to let me make some progress. A brief excursion in early July, when my bankroll first hit $1k, put me up $700, then down $700 and back to the 22’s. When I got back to $1k in mid July, the real trudging began. I 4-tabled the 33’s through early October. I still can’t win a coin flip when the BB calls my all-in with 44 and my T5o misses the board. Nice call with the 44… caught me bluffing.

ROI=14.0%, ITM=36.6%, $23.56/hr
69/54/60/75/66/57/44/42/23/10

Overall:
ROI=11.0%, ITM=36.7%, about 400 hours, $9.03/hr

Total SNG profit: $3700
Bonuses: $825
Ring games: -$68.99
Multi-table tournaments: $66.70
Rakeback and other: $275.22
Live play: $146.00
Current bankroll: $2680

As a bonus, guess which downswing almost made me quit poker forever.

...and obviously I picked the perfect day to move up to the 55's.
