Too cautious?

Yes.

Guys that laggy will always get called down by me when I have top pair. ALWAYS.

if it makes any difference, he had the autoraise and autobet button on on both streets.

Another reason to call as if you needed any more with top pair and a gutshot. Autobet either means nothing at all or it means he wants you to fold. People rarely use autobet when they are afraid of scaring you away. Remember your Caro: strong behavior means weak hand.

Call him down and expect to win a good portion of the time.

A least a big enough percentage of the time, especially coming from a LAG. Most of the time though autoraise = strong.

This doesn't necessarily mean anything, I use those buttons all the time with a wide range of hands specifically because people get weirded out when I do it. Though your LAGgy opponent might not be thinking on that level, you never really know. But as a rule, I let the bets do the talking, I am calling down there every time.

Perhaps, but if you think about the Party interface you realize all we know about the turn is he autobet. We don't know if he intended to raise.
