View Full Version : It's Saturday! What's on the agenda for you?

I'm at work - urgg - alone in a huge office rebuilding a web site/data centre whose busiest trade time is saturday night - interspersed with angry calls from the technical director, MD, CEO and Uncle Tom Cobley and all, so I'm having a WHALE of a time. They all phone me, I tell em the same thing - they then phone each other and gabber away in their managementspeak/ape fusion, get it all wrong, and then phone me back cos they've made themselves angry and confused.

It's just peachy (no not that one) to sit and watch stuff run/download completely helpless while being shouted at down the phone that it 'BETTER BE DONE BY <x> O'CLOCK!' every 10 minutes or so.

I just love it.

It could only be improved by the fact that the tea machine is empty - which it is.

Soooooo, what are your plans? Help me improve my steaming vomit of a day by living tenuously through your plans.

Anything. Really. Seriously.

I hate to sound mean, but the fact that someone has a midterm and someone else has to mow a lawn has helped a little /images/graemlins/blush.gif

We are moving soon, so today will be spent locating boxes and packing. I am only waiting for the better half to awaken from her mid-morning nap (after getting up at 4 AM with the progeny) for it to begin.

And put cover sheets on those TPS reports, willya?

We have an annual ethnic festival where I live called Pulaski Days. All of the Polish halls are opened to the public and the public packs 'em in. Great food, music and dancing. Plus, all sorts of hot girl next door types you don't normally see at the bars come out. It really is an absolute blast.

I am currently nursing a brutal hangover in preparation for round two.

There's an office building nearby, they have their main day on saturdays. Not sure what they do there, but there's always a lot of yelling, and phone calls too. It's "urgent" whatever it is, but it's usually f***ed up by someone wearing power blue pinstripes with exaggerated shoulder pads and a very bland black tie of PRECISELY the correct width. These mo-fo's are so anal you couldn't get a greased bb up their butts; they could crush a toothpick with their anus, no problem.

So anyway, on saturdays I like to go wait outside, and as they file out of their petty little offices, cell phones to their ears and little black briefcases in hand, on their way to play racquetball, then stopping by the winecellar for a bottle of chardonay, I like to KICK THEM ALL IN THE FRIGGIN' NUTS. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm kicking 'em and I'm kicking 'em and I'm kicking 'em!! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hope you feel better!

im driving up to half moon bay around 3. then im meeting my dad and some of his friends in san francisco tonight. his best friend from high school's son is on the indianapolis colts, so we may be going to dinner with the colts offensive line. he then talked about maybe going to a club? but i think i might slip away to lucky chances if it gets a bit boring. then it off to bed for the 49ers/colts game tomorrow morning. im super excited.

This could have been a bad thread, had you just described a boring/frustrating Saturday in the office. However, by asking people to describe what random things they have on their agenda today, this becomes a fun and interesting thread. This is also a good example of the type of thing that can quickly become old if people start doing a "what's on your agenda today" thread again too frequently.

Done with poker for the week, so I'm off to the Everglades in a few (cousin's house is right smack on Everglades property). While there, gonna be giving my brain a rest by steaming it with a lot of pot, then gonna give it a through rinse with plenty of booze; and whenever I stop musing for a few seconds over how cool it is to be partying in the proximity of pythons, alligators, oscars and snakeheads, I'll be watching these play on several tvs:

Corrales/Castillo PPV
Replay of Jones/Tarver
Kung Fu Hustle (I haven't see it yet)

Went to a Yugi-Oh tournament at Toys-R-Us. Read Ace on the River while occasionally moderating play. My 7-year-old got an Obelisk the Terrible Egyptian god card. Counterfeit, but still cool. After that came home, ate lunch, played Yugi-Oh using an out-of-the-box fire structure deck, wrestled with Ryan, wrestled with both boys. Paid a few bills. Fired up 2+2 and am now contemplating the big P. Good times.

Played with the baby, blew off Costco b/c it got too late, nothing done garage-wise (surprise surprise), moped about the Sox but evil was rained out, and had sushi at Shin with wife and baby.

All in all, a nice little day. Even squeezed in a little nap with the cats, which everyone enjoys.
