Smitty,

I would have played both these hands completely differently.

From UTG I would have limped with the A 2 so as not to scare off worse hands in the first hand.

Second hand would have gone to the muck (even though you got a very favorable flop).

Hand 1: On the river, a check loses a bet when op is chasing with a smaller flush, & bet/call loses when he has the full, but bet/fold does not lose a bet if you feel VERY SURE that he won't pull a move on you,accidently or on purpose, & take the whole pot away from you. Since you have no read on him, the bet/fold is out. I slightly prefer the check/call. Hand 2: Call this pre-flop? I don't know for sure, but I don't like it. Turn--looks bad. River--You're in deep sheet now. I told you about calling this before the flop. (Hindsight is a great thing to have.)
