hand histories: authentic?

If someone sends me a hand history that Empire sent to them, is there a way to tell for sure if it is truly authentic and not doctored?

If the HH contains the hand number, then request that HH number to be sent to your e-mail, and you can see the authentic HH.

If it does not contain the HH number then it's just a bunch of text, and there is no way to tell.
