View Full Version : To Free Card or Not to Free Card?

Should I be going for a free card here? All I have is overcards with a runner runner straight possibility. Plus the flush draw is out there. I figure if I hit an A or K i'm most likely good (as long as it's not /images/graemlins/diamond.gif). What's the best line?

SB is 18/2/1.0 after 50 hands
UTG is 27/3/1.32 after 95 hands

With the flush draw out there, a passive player letting you know you're behind or he's got the flush draw, and a caller, I don't think I'd raise this time.

Definitely don't raise. In fact, I think your best play may well be to fold. You are reverse dominated by AQ / A3 / A2 / KQ, not to mention the flush draw that taints your already suspect outs.

You are getting 11:1 and closing the action though, so I think it's close.

my 2 cents.

I'd just peel. Now if my hand were A/images/graemlins/diamond.gifK/images/graemlins/heart.gif...

UTG could have any of those hands that reverse dominate me, but he probably raises flop (or preflop) with KQ/AQ. I don't fully understand why a raise is THAT bad...

I think you would be incredibly optimistic if you gave yourself 4 full outs here - same as a gutshot and no overs. Would you raise with a naked gutshot?

Good point. Ok so just peel/fold. Peel gives you 11:1 for 4 tainted outs. I suck at playing overcards. Who folds here? Is the rule for most people that unless you have redraws you don't play on?

I think I fold this with a bet and a call.
If it's HU I raise, bet turn, check river and pray he's on a flush draw. I fold the turn if he plays back at me and I miss the turn.
